A Commercial Litigation Associate assists senior counsel in handling a variety of commercial litigation matters, including research, drafting legal documents, and preparing for court appearances, often with a focus on complex cases.

Commercial Litigation Associate 

Pay Rate: $180 000-245 000

Our client is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate to join their growing litigation practice. They are looking for a highly motivated attorney with 3-5 years of experience who is eager to take on challenging, high-stakes litigation matters in a collaborative and supportive environment. This position is available in their Stamford, New Haven, or New York office locations.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Commercial Litigation Associate , you will play an integral role in a variety of complex disputes across multiple industries. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing all aspects of litigation from case inception through resolution, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, trial preparation, and appeals.
  • Representing clients in federal and state courts, arbitration proceedings, and administrative hearings.
  • Drafting persuasive motions and legal memoranda , including dispositive motions, discovery motions, and appellate briefs.
  • Taking and defending depositions of fact and expert witnesses.
  • Conducting in-depth legal research and case analysis to develop litigation strategies.
  • Assisting with trial preparation and participating in courtroom proceedings.
  • Negotiating settlements and engaging in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) to achieve favorable client outcomes.
  • Interfacing directly with clients, in-house counsel, and opposing counsel to provide strategic litigation advice.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a talented litigator with a strong academic background and a passion for advocacy.

Basic Qualifications:

  • J.D. from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.
  • 3-5 years of litigation experience at a leading law firm or reputable litigation boutique.
  • Judicial clerkship experience preferred (federal or state appellate).
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience with motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Admission to the Connecticut or New York bar (or eligibility for admission).
  • Preferred Experience (Not Required but a Plus):
  • Prior experience in complex commercial litigation, class actions, securities litigation, or regulatory investigations.
  • Exposure to litigation in financial services, healthcare, technology, real estate, or manufacturing industries.
  • Familiarity with e-discovery and case management tools.
