- The MEP / General Superintendent is responsible for the on-site supervision, coordination, and execution of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general construction activities on a complex, high-value project. This individual plays a key leadership role in maintaining schedule, safety, and quality standards, while ensuring seamless integration of MEP systems with core structural and architectural elements. The Superintendent will work closely with trade contractors, design teams, commissioning agents, and project management to deliver a fully functional and code-compliant facility.

- Key Responsibilities
- Field Supervision & Execution
- Direct and supervise daily on-site activities of MEP and general trade contractors
- Ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to plans, specs, and quality standards
- Coordinate site logistics, deliveries, and laydown areas to maximize productivity and minimize congestion
- MEP Systems Oversight
- Monitor installation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems
- Identify and resolve field issues in real time to avoid schedule delays
- Review and enforce adherence to MEP drawings, submittals, and code requirements
- Scheduling & Sequencing
- Maintain and update detailed construction schedules, including short-interval (look-ahead) planning
- Sequence MEP work in line with structural, architectural, and finishes milestones
- Coordinate inspections, startup, and system commissioning with minimal rework or downtime
- Quality Control & Commissioning
- Ensure all installations meet quality assurance standards and are prepared for inspections
- Support and oversee functional performance testing and commissioning activities
- Lead punch-list development and completion tracking for MEP and general scopes
- Project-Specific Focus:
- Data Centers:
- Manage mission-critical system installations (UPS, generators, CRAC/CRAH, BMS)
- Ensure redundancy and zero-downtime expectations are met through phased commissioning
- Team Collaboration & Communication
- Serve as the on-site leader and point of contact for field operations and subcontractors
- Conduct daily foreman meetings and coordinate trade sequencing
- Report daily field progress, manpower, and material status to project leadership
- Preferred or Required Experience/Qualifications
- 10+ years of field supervision experience on large-scale commercial, mission-critical, or institutional projects
- Deep understanding of MEP systems and general construction processes
- Demonstrated leadership managing field crews and subcontractors
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and site safety planning
- Proficient in field management tools (Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, and specifications
