Job Description
Actalent is currently seeking a qualified Civil Designer for a position in Phoenix, AZ. This position will engage in various phases of planning, proposal preparation, site evaluations, analytical designs, report preparation, specifications, and preparation of construction documentation and environmental plans as part of a project team. This position involves working on diverse projects with a wide range of project types and clients.
Responsibilities
+ Design civil engineering projects including site design, land development, roads, storm drainage systems, storm water management facilities, water and sanitary sewer utility design, sediment and erosion control, traffic control, airports, and facility design.
+ Develop drawings for production work including problem analysis, design layout, and calculations on non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
+ Execute civil design assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques, including drawing sequence and presentation, sizing various system components, and refining rough sketches.
+ Implement changes to designs or sketches and mark-ups on ongoing projects.
+ Analyze reports, maps, drawings, tests, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design projects.
+ Ensure incorporation of design codes and specifications related to design requirements.
+ Review design drawings for quality assurance within scope, budget, and schedule.
+ Calculate volumes for excavation, dredging, and upland site grading.
+ Integrate schedules, budgets, and project criteria into civil design and layouts.
+ Revise project drawings, plot files, and project-related information storage in a structured manner.
+ Comply with all policies and standards.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree in drafting technology or related field with 7 years of related experience, or Associate Degree with 8 years of related experience, or 9 years of progressive detailing and design experience.
+ Expert understanding of design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Excel.
+ Strong knowledge in design, calculations, and design systems.
+ Competency in the theory and practices of civil discipline and fundamental concepts of related disciplines.
+ Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-discipline project team environment.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Knowledge of other discipline design software necessary for executing production tasks.
+ Capability to resolve design or drawing issues effectively.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
