Job Description

The UX Researcher will drive research activities, deriving insights, generating concepts and working with developers and product managers to build and test these concepts. Conduct user research, analysis & synthesis, persona development, interaction design, and usability testing to create products that align to overall business needs. You will work across multiple projects collaborating with designers, developers, product managers, and business stakeholders to show the value behind research, what it can do, and why it’s important. 

Qualifications

Preferred: 

• Master’s degree 
• 5+ years of work experience in a relevant position or industry 
• Experience working with large-scale data in multi-method studies 
• Thorough knowledge and experience across a range of UX research approaches and methodologies - especially {RITE} 

Required: 

For consideration, you must meet one of the following educational/technical requirements: 

• Require PhD in Social Sciences (e.g. Economics, sociology, psychology, decision sciences, Human-Computer Interaction), statistics, computer science or related field. Experience with designing and analyzing 

OR 

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences (e.g. Economics, sociology, psychology, decision sciences, Human-Computer Interaction), statistics, computer science or related field AND 2+ years practical work experience in applied product research, UX Research, experience design, usability, analytics, data science or product teams. Prefer: journey mapping experience 
• Experience with designing and analyzing A/B experiments 
• Knowledge of qualitative research methods and at least one subset of methods (e.g., ethnography) plus usability, user interviews 
• Strong analytical, and synthesis skills with a proven ability to turn research results into product insights. Experience conveying research findings and implications to audiences 
• Track record of collaborating across disciplines (design, engineering, data science) to drive change into products 
• Proven ability to work within tight timelines utilizing excellent project management skills 

Additional Information

a. In collaboration product owners, managers, or business stakeholders, develop test plans, conduct research, synthesize findings, make workshop agendas, and create actionable outputs. 

b. Work closely with product and design teams to identify research questions, build a research plan, and communicate the insights to shape the user experiences of Wellmark products and capabilities. 

c. Design and conduct generative and evaluative research studies using methods such as ethnographic research, interviews, surveys, usability testing, collaborative design among others. Identify the best method or mix of methods based on research questions, timeline and resourcing. 

d. Create an on-going user feedback and testing program to ensure product development teams are meeting the needs of current and future customers.

e. Proactively and routinely surface fact-based, forward-thinking customer insights across business partnerships. 

f. Other duties as assigned.

Remote Eligible: You will have the flexibility to work where you are most productive. This position is eligible to work fully remote. Depending on your location, you may still have the option to come into a Wellmark office if you wish to. Your leader may ask you to come into the office occasionally for specific meetings or other ‘moments that matter’ as well.
